Windows 7, the latest operating system from Microsoft was officially released to the public today. Microsoft will be hoping that it receives more positive feedback than its last release, Windows Vista. Being Microsoft partners ourselves, 127 Solutions have had access to Beta versions of Windows 7 for many months now we are pleased to say that it has the potential to be a fantastic operating system. After the flop of Vista, Microsoft now seems to have sorted out some of the major issues which gave it such bad publicity. The first one that comes to mind is the networking side of things. Vista always seemed to have problems connecting to domains and networks of any kind, wired or wireless and had many inconsistent errors and problems. We are yet to come across a network connection problem Windows 7. Also the network speed when transferring files is much better than Vista. There have also been some visual improvements. The layout and colour scheme is very pleasing on the eye and the user interface is great. You can preview any minimized program or document full screen by hovering the cursor over it making it easier and quicker to find what you want. Also, your favourite programs and documents can be pinned to the taskbar and start menu for your convenience. A great new feature is XP mode. This comes as a downloadable add-on which installs an already configured virtual XP machine. It allows you to install older programs that are not compatible with Windows 7 and then create shortcuts to your Windows 7 desktop for seamless integration. There are many other new features in Windows 7 so why not get your copy now and try them out for yourself.
